hi everyone
I do have a few questions that I'm hoping some one could answer.
#1 My 1950 3600 doesn't have the floor start it has a key in the dash My question is did all trucks have the floor start pedal?
Where there any 1950 cars with key starts?
is it possible I have an engine that came out of a car? the block # is HAA3b4772

Another question I have is about the hand throttle control it is not attached (the knob is in the ashtray) there is some linkage on the cab that increases the throttle the more you choke it. is it possible that this is the wrong carb I haven't pulled it off yet yet i don't see any numbers on it.

I have attached some pictures

thanks for all your help I'm sorry I'm such a dummy about this stuff but I'll get better ( I Hope)

HAA = 1950 passenger car 216 engine

Could HAA3b4772 be HAA364772?

All Chevrolet trucks through 1953 came with foot starters. Foot starters were available with six cylinder truck engines with manual transmission up through(?) 1959.

235 in cars equipped with Powerglide engines most likely came with solenoid starters.

235s on most 47-54 trucks trucks came with manual/hand throttle and choke controls.

Your photo seems to show a choke cable. The throttle cable would be installed downwards through the cable clamp on the carb - down to/through the top throttle "up-rod".

After looking closer i see that the engine number is HAA364772
and i see the cable clamp you are talking about.

I know its a 216 how do I tell if its from a car or truck?
or since it has a key start it must be a car.
is it possible to convert back to a pedal start?

It does has a 4 speed floor shift

do i need to get other numbers and where would they be located.
thanks John

You can convert back to a pedal but you will need to change the solonoid on the starter, the wiring, and you will need to locate a foot starter set-up (not a reproduction item) using Swap Meet or eBay here is a picture of the complete set-up.

Re: your question about the choke increasing engine RPM ...

Yes. The choke also opens the throttle lever a little. You can see it in your photo pressing against the throttle lever.
