I have a 1950 3/4 ton 5 window. The body is excellent! The frame is as well but I find it difficult to upgrade brakes etc... Can I put the body on a 1/2 ton frame or S-10 conversion?

stay with what you have. I also have a 50 3100 and have switched to disk on all four corners. with the kits that are out now is was pretty easy.the switch to a s-10 frame would be a lot more diffacult.

Evac34 has a 3/4 ton truck. Not as easy as your 1/2 ton.

I always say the same: drive it like it is. I do, and no problems, ever. You can easily upgrade the brakes by adding a dual master w/ booster, if you feel safer that way. drums all around is good enough, really. You can't drive that truck like it's a Camaro anyway, it's a truck.
If you want some extra top speed for the highway, ring&pinion kits are not expensive and a relatively easy job.
Not satisfied with the heater? Get an a/c kit from companies like Vintage Air, those things work pretty good.
Don't trust the generator? Get an alternator, any GM up to 96 (I think) will do the trick and bracket conversions are available fro all the vendors.
Seat belts? $25 each.
And I think by then you'll have a truck that is a great daily driver. I drive mine all the time, and the only upgrade I have is the alternator conversion. These trucks were made to work, so make her work!
(I am a fierce promoter of "keep it like it is", if you don't feel ok driving it like it is I understand, but this is just what I do)

There is not a lot of stuff available for the 3/4 ton as the 1/2 ton. You can put the later model brakes on it. 53 up used the Bendix style brakes. They were better brakes & certainly easier to work on & get parts for. You can also get a dual master cyl w/booster in a kit. There is nothing wrong with the drum brakes if they are in good condition.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
