Drop in, no. The pinion angle needs to be set. This can only be done with the axle under the truck, and the weight of the truck on the axle. The perches are then welded in place to lock the pinion angle.

There are plenty of options available as far as axles go. If you want to spend money for a new axle look at www.9inchfloater.com. They can make you a full floating 9 inch axle with any lug pattern, width, and tube size you desire. All for a relatively reasonable price. I have one of these axles under my 59 1/2 ton.

I found a shop that will do a complete drop in. He is doing one for my 58. The problem is the spring mounts, he will cut the old ones off the old rear end and reweld to the new. He must have the old to make the measurements to set the pinion angle.
The name is The Diff Shop, Inc. 1380 Ford St,Colorado Springs, CO. 80915 Phone 719-570-7830 Darold Boley.
