My transmission was recently gone through and I'm wondering if anyone has bolted one to a 260hp small block. The letter W is stamped on the case at the upper rear. Various previous posts indicate it's a Warner.

The Warner is the heavy duty trans. It will stand up well behind that engine. I,m running a T-5 behind mine. It,s a little light for it but I figure if I don,t abuse it it will last.

Wrenchbender, thanks for the reply. The Warner must be much less prevalent because many transmission mechanics have told me that the only three speeds they've worked on have been basically car units installed in trucks.

Yes it is pretty rare in a chevy. The buicks used them too.
