I had the hood stolen from my 1940 chevy pickup during transit from MN to VT. It was carefully removed by someone.
If anyone sees or finds one come up please let me know.
Mine was dark blue With a real nice old patina. It has the yellow trim as well as a light blue pinstripe.
Thanks.

I would think the delivery guy or company is responsible for something. We have a 37 hood in the garage but I know the grill and cowl are all differnt. As the guys said, you might have to start from scratch and start with another.meanwhile, we will all keep our eyes peeled. | | | | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 738 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 738 | I'm going to send your post over to General Trucks, there might be more guys looking in that forum. Hope some info comes up. Good luck! | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 | What the heck! Nothing worse than a thief.
*Do you know what city-state it was stolen in so the members here in that area can do a bit of private detective work for ya? The more details you can provide us the better chance we will have of finding it.
*You might want to post up some photos here if you have any. Not everybody here is familiar with what a 40 Chevy Pickup hood looks like.
*Will the freight / carrier company pay for the replacement cost?

I know that the driver had spent the night in the Syracuse NY area and had a drop in Bow NH prior to my stop. The carrier is based in Plymouth MA. (Still wont return my calls) I want to thank the people at this site for at least caring a little. I was shocked to google a 1940 chevy truck hood and find my post.. Great job getting it out there. At any rate hood or not I really found a sweet old truck and am looking forward to getting it cleaned up. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks again | | | | Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 86 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 86 | Will a 37- 38 hood fit a 40 chevy?? I think they both have the narrow nose on them. In 41 they went to the wide deco grill. | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 21 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 21 | Hey Joe you might give bergstroms a call i know he has a left half top and side , not positive on the vintage my self, tell him mark with the 41 chevy project truck in town sent ya Bergstrom's Antique & Classic Autos 809 Washington Street Port Townsend, Washington 98368 (360) 385-5061 great guy and even better source for parts

Bowtietim has a point, contact the guy you purchased it from and ask to see if he took any pictures of it when it was leaving, maybe he has one that shows the hood on it. | | |
