Looking for pictures of how the original hand brake in my truck mounts. I think the squeeze handle is mounted forward? I am also interested in how much of the hand brake is below the floor board? Does anyone have pictures of an original hand brake mounted in there truck? I took mine out to install a later engine & transmission & now need to make some kind of bracket to mount the hand brake. Any help, pictures, or tips would be great.
thanks, Mike

You can't attach a pic directly to your post. You'll need to put the pic on a hosting site such as Photobucket then put a link to it in the post. Visit the image posting policy link at the bottom left of this page. FYI the release lever on my '38 car is toward the back (seat). I don't know if the truck is the same.

Here is the hand brake part I am trying to attach with a bracket I will make, just dont remember what went forward and how much of the handle went below the floorboard. Any help, pictures, or advice would be welcome. Also I hope this picture attachement works.
Thanks, Mike

If no one has a picture how about a direction of the handle in front or back and a dimension from the top of the handle to the floor board?

The floor ends up being just about where the little floor filler piece around the handle near the bottom is on the picture of the the hand brake you posted in this thread. The part with the "teeth" on it attaches on the right side of the transmission on a stock set up. There are actually two bolts that attach it to some bosses on the transmission through the two holes on that part which I believe is called a "pawl". You can possibly make a part with threaded holes in it to screw the emergency brake onto and mount that part onto the transmission.

pretty sure the 'squeeze" part must face forward to activate the ratchet with a pull motion.

4 years on and I am looking for som pics of thr bracket that bolts on the side of the gear box that holds the hand leaver emergeny brake, I have just had the leaver and new boot, spring and foam collar sent from America, now it is trying to make it work and look original. I have notice on photos the right hand drive trucks also had the leaver on the right hand side, from reading this helpful thread it is due to the mounts where on the gearbox and that must have not been converted over?
