Just wondering how rare one is.
I've heard it was an option.
Is there a market for just the RH seat?

yes it was an option, but it was the same as the drivers seat - most trucks wouldn't have had a RH seat, but it could be used for either position - of course any workable 60 year old part will have "a market"

my passenger seat folds up against the "glovebox". the back of the seat "folds onto the seat and then you lift up from the rear of the seat and it folds up to the glovebox. the driver seat slides back and forth.

Tony - I believe yours would be the RH seat from a burb - see this factory pic from Tims site, showing on the right 2 pics, one with the optional passengers seat that looks just like the drivers, don't know if they used the sliding adjusters in that position

AFAIK that seat was used for the driver seat [and optional pass seat] from the late 30's until at least 59 - I think it was also in some years sedan deliveries and was used as the driver seat in some school busses

It is not the same as a Suburban seat.

yes, Tim should have some info on that, I think the folding seat is not what's shown in the ad I linked which appears to me to have the same rigid metal back a driver seat has .... maybe the AD had a different one, but all the folding seats I've seen had more of a pipe frame style

My seats are different from each other, they both have metal backs, but the passenger's seat pivots ahead from the floor mount brackets. It has wooden blocks at the back where it rests on the floor.

I have a passenger seat for my 51 panel. It looks exactly like the drivers seat, except it doesn't mount to the sliding tracks.

The passenger seat has two hinges mounted to brackets that attach to the the front edge of the seat platform. The back of the seat has a pieace of flat steel, approximately 1/8 thick by 1 in wide that forms a foot for the rear. It has rubber pads on it where the corners rest on the platform. It folds down and then the back of the seat lifts and pivot towards the dash.

I don't have pics at this time, as the parts are dissassembled and in prep for painting.

Also for what it's worth, the Art Deco seats were similar, but not the same.

As far as rarity goes, the seats in general are rare, but the mounts for the passenger seat is what is really rare.

Thanks guys! I think it was Oldsub who said they(pair) are worth some money but I only have the RH. I sort of want to keep it in the shop but may sell who knows. I'm in no rush.

There are two sets on ebay right now. They show both seats and might be helpful to see them side by side. I don't know how to remove the pictures from ebay without including the link.
