Dear Members:
I want to put on Fenton Headers...I see there is a Fenton Manifold, but it is for dual carbs...Do I need dual carbs ? or can I get a single carb manifold and use stock carb.? and what about the pre fuel heater function ? How do I address that with the new/or old manifold ?

I like dual exhaust, but don't really want the dual carbs.. Any help would be great.

Hy Jimmi_V, It is not necessary to use a multiple carb manifold with Fenton headers, there is an exhaust to intake manifold heat kit available which plumbs two tubes, one from each header to a plate mounted to the bottom of the intake manifold where the stock exhaust manifold mounted, hope that helps.

Do we know who makes that manifold ? or the heater plate ?

Hi Jimmi, a member here sells the Fenton exhaust headers. Check out "CLETIS". I think the heat plate is seperate thru Langdons,or maybe Jim Carter.

Hy Jimmi_V, Jim Carter sells the kits, for Chevrolet 235 and 261 engines it is their p/n HPM543, for the Chevrolet 216, and the GMC engines 228 - 302 their p/n HPM544, I won't list prices cuz my catalog is a few years old, hope that helps.

You can use your stock intake manifold. As pointed out above, Carter sells a kit for exhaust heat. Langdon sells one for water heat.

Carter's kit was $60 when I ordered one last week.

Chevs of the 40s now has a kit with one tube - lower-priced and probably adequate for heating the intake.

I am using Jim Carter's kit with two tubes to the Fenton headers. Works fine, simple plumbing, and no worry about coolant-line leaks.

Do you still use the stock manifold ? and this kit is to be located under the manifold and is heated by the exhaust manifold lines that go into it.....
Also, did you have a set of exhaust pipes made at a muffler shop or use a pre-made bolt on type. And if you had them made did you have to trailer the truck to the shop ? or drive with headers ?

You still use your stock intake mani.
When you remove the whole assembly from your truck,you'll see where they unbolt from eachother.Youll also see where the heat plate bolts back on your intake.
I drove mine to the muff shop with open headers,,about 8 miles,
i figured if i got stopped,it would be obvious to the cop where i was going. Small town,one exhaust shop.

If you have a good muffler shop in your area, do what Marty suggests. I live in a small city area and cannot find anyone who can/will make a useful exhaust system for my trucks (even shops that work on race cars).

I ended up buying a beautifully made polished stainless system from Patrick's ($$$). The muffler is a little loud for my tastes but the fit from front-to-back is perfect.

It looks like Chevs of the 40s might be selling Patrick's system?

I am using the fentons with a Clifford Perf. water heated intake , 2 bbl Webber carb, and Patricks dual exhaust. More options...

Are the header tubes kit that goes to the intake only for cold weather? Anyone!

In almost all geographic areas and all times of the year, the intake manifold needs heat. Without heat, when the liquid fuel is vaporized there is coldness that is produced as part of the process ("latent heat of evaporation - "latent" heat of vaporization). If the intake is not warm, the vaporized fuel will condense, and this usually results in rough/hesitant acceleration.

I bought Fentons and the stainless exhaust system from Denise at Patrick's. They are great folks to deal with, and I'm very happy with the products, fit and sound of my 235. Great feeling to turn that ignition key after you do all the work and get it installed.
