I've driven a '46 Chevy pickup, a Mustang II and a C4 Corvette. I prefer the handling of the Corvette but I'm not sure I'd choose it over the Mustang for ride.
I don't know how much you know about C4 Corvettes. You might already know there where two different differentials offered. The price comparison on the rear suspension was all based on Dana 36 stuff. After the first year ('84) all manual transmission C4 Corvettes used the Dana 44 which is much stronger.
If you are going to run a performance motor you probably want the 44. It costs more but will last better if abused at all.
