Just brought this solid old Jimmy home.
4-71 Detroit,5 Speed OD,3 Speed Aux.,2 Speed rear.
Always been inside and was last registered in 1974.
Fired it up and drove it home!
Truck Run's and Drives Great once the tires round out,lol
More than likely will remove the "Holmes" wrecker and make a tractor out of it.
Currently looking for a "back in the day" sleeper box for it.
50's,early 60's or older is what I have in mind.
Any help locating one would be Greatly Appreciated.
Thanks to John & Peggy for a great Site!!!

Welcome!! That is a COOL truck. Do you know the history? The front wheels look more modern with the larger diameter 10-stud circle.
Cool album of truck pictures too. wave

Thanks Frank!
Your 50 is pretty "Sweet" Too.
The truck from what I understand was bought in the mid fifties as a tractor with a broken frame.
A new replacement frame was purchased in the proper wheelbase and the wrecker body was installed.
The front axle is original(will check that further),the rear I'm not sure, as it has a Eaton electric two speed.
Need to research that too.
The aluminum Budd's are very early tube style, probably late sixties, early seventy's.

That wrecker looks cool just the way it is, but it's your truck. Good luck on your project. Also, I like that Power Wagon too!

The 5 hole alum wheels were built starting in the early 50's and were used up till the late 60's when Alcoa brought out the 10 hand hole tube type wheel.
