Would I be able to use parts from a 250 such as harmonic balancer, water pump, dist., intake and exhaust manifolds and use them on a 292. Thanks.

I wouldn't use the Harmonic balancer, water pump, thermostat housing, and the side covers won't fit. Everything else should be good. The water pump has an additional outlet that feeds the thermostat housing, this might of changed on later engines. The harmonic alancer isn't big enough.

The manifolds & dist. will fit.

carolines truck, In your first link it was never determined what manifold wouldn't fit. The manifold was suppose to be a 250. There are some differences in exhaust manifold, but none of differences should keep the manifold from bolting to either a 250 or 292.

The second link refers to internal engine parts and yes there are a lot of differences. Freds has limited the parts to external.

Fres, did forget to mention motor mount towers. The mounts are the same, but were they bolt on is different. You will need to give us some more details before we know if that is a problem.
