on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 46 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 46 | Does any one know the towing capcity of a 47-53 chevrolet truck 1 ton gross weight of 8800 lbs is? It has a 5.14 rear end and a newer 56 full pressure 235 CI engine and the 4 speed? This is saying I have the right class of tow hitch lights etc. I do have all stock drum brakes all around with a new power booster. Any one know the answer, thanks Gerry | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | I may be wrong but I don't think they gave a tow rating for it in those days. I would think that should at least be able to tow your payload, with trailer brakes of course. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,961 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,961 | Trucks didn't get a gross combination weight rating under 2 ton or maybe 1 1/2 ton. The towing capacity all depends on how fast you want to go and how well you can stop. | | |
