The transmission (a crash box) remained the older torque tube (enclosed drive shaft) type. The drive shaft is a two piece unit with the front section being an enclosed unit and the rear being open.
I have just replaced the center (hanger) bearing. When reading the instructions in the manual I discovered that the enclosed drive shaft section is supposed to be filled with a pint of gear lube.
Is this the same for the full length unit on half tons??
