hanging out on the family farm in nebraska and my brother's old chevy dump truck is having carburetor issues.

i am having some difficulty identifying the carburetor and was hoping someone could shed some light on the subject.

it is a 1965 chevrolet c-50 dump truck with a 292. the carburetor is a single barrel and looks similar to the rochester i have on my 50. any help is appreciated.

It is similar. It is a Rochester model B. The ones in the 60's are different from the early ones in that the fuel line goes in the side with a fiter behind the big nut. The air cleaner mount is different also. The 292 generally has a larger bore then the smaller 6 cyl's. They are easy to o-haul & put a kit in. Try to stay away from a reman. Most of them arn't good & they will probably substitute the smaller bore carb. It will fit but you will lose some power. There ought to be a brass tag on under one of the screws in the air horn. It will ID the carb but you can order a kit from application because they were all about the same from 60-67.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

wrench,

the tag is long gone unfortunately, but it looks exactly the way you described it. the kit i have found covers something like six different carbs...

thanks for the quick reply.
