I have been told that it will work on pre 1947 chevy trucks due to the tie rod being the same length from 1937 thru 1955? Is this true? I have a 1938 HC 1/2 truck with a 1963 chevy nova 194 six cylinder installed. Any feedback as to installation, quirks, problems, how it works and how happy owners are with it would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at this kit since I would like to keep the original column/steering wheel look. thanks | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 | This set up drove well and was used on Chevy cars up through 64, Corvettes up to 1980 or so, Mustangs through 1970, and even later on some 4wd's and industrial equipment. One drawback was the exposed hoses but if routed well and not driven in the bush they held up. With more exposed fittings they did tend to have more leaking problems than the integral units. The tie rod length isn't critical since the cylinder can be attached at any point but the drag link, which has the control valve, length and angle is important.

I found it at a swap meet for a good price so I thought I would try it out. It performed well at low speeds and for parking but was kind of spooky on the road. You don't get a good feeling for the road. I had a good front end, tires, king pins, etc. I changed the pump pressure and rebilt the control valve and still didn't like it. I have since installed a Toyota box and it works great. The CPP unit is quite pricy also. Give me a call, I'm in OC. Fred 562-225-5869
