I have a deep cycle battery that went a little on the dead side, No it's not out of my truck.
Charging that battery seems different and was wondering if there's a different or special way to charge one up.

I had another thought as I was looking at the charger, which I have on at a 6 amp rate which puts the needle in the grn. zone.....Why can't you use one of these in vehicle ?

Dan

Sounds to me like your charger is working just fine on the deep cycle battery. It's probably going to take more time to reach full charge than you're used to but I think if you're patient, it will get the job done.

I'm not an expert on deep cycle (RV) batteries but I think the problem with using one in a vehicle would be the lack of CCA or cold cranking amps. An RV battery is designed for steady and slow discharge.

Deep cycle batteries I've had experience with aren't made to handle large amperage loads like they would get when starting a vehicle. They're made to provide extended amp loads with the ability to be deeply discharged & recharged without being destroyed.
