I just pulled my engine and need to change my oil pan gasket. I have my engine on a stand.
I drained the oil but I can still here water in the water jackets and what not. If I turn the moter completley over on the stand is ther any chance of water getting in it????

rogpatt,

I don't think so. The cooling system is pressurized...separate from the engine internals and such. Turning it over on the stand won't change the integrity of the cooling system.

You might get water coming out of the engine onto the floor, but it won't get into the guts..they are still separate.

There is a plug or petcock on the drivers side of the engine way to the rear lower part of the block on a 6. On an 8 there are 2 plugs one on each side. I like to pull the oil pan before I turn the engine over. That way the crud left in the pan doesn,t get bup in the engine.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
