Hey all,
I have a 61 C20 with a flat bed on it. I'm pretty sure it was originally a 6' fleet side, but I like the looks of the step sides better. Will the frame accept either or?
Thanks

Hello Jake. If your truck is indeed a C20 then the 6 1/2 ft. bed wasn't an option. It should have a 8 ft. bed with a wheel base [center of front hub to center of rear hub] of 127 in. Short beds were 115 in. Those are 1963 specs and I don't think they changed much between years. If your truck appears shorter then maybe the frame was swapped or shortened. Do you have 6 lugs or 8 lugs?

It is an 8 lug. But here's the thing. This is a crew cab conversion. I don't have a measurement of the wheel base, but I'll get one.

Crew Cab, that explains it. Your'e looking at a short step bed which is 82-1/8 in. in length. It will fit right in if you have 42 in. between the back of the cab and the center of the rear hub. I doubt that you will though. You will have to do some fitting. In the Gallery is a photo of a 64 crew cab with a step bed on it. Look for Rich Sisnero's 64 crew cab. You will see the bed had been shortened considerably.

Thanks! I have exactly 42" from the back of the cab to the center of the hub.
