listing in paper for a 66 chevy with auto towing drive shaft, what does the term refer to.

Probably auto trans driveshaft with beefed up u-joints for towing. But yes, ask the seller only if you need a driveline.

There is a special driveshaft available for cars that are flat-towed behind motorhomes, etc. that can be disconnected to keep the transmission and driveline from turning. It's a sliding coupling similar to a synchronizer that disconnects the rear u-joint to prevent spinning the driveline. Never heard of it being used on a full-sized car, but I guess it's possible.
