The 3 speed column has the "ears" that the shifting linkage attaches to at the bottom of the column. The washer is round but has a wavy shape to it. And finally the housing is the piece that the lower bearing is pressed into that the steering shaft goes through. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 595 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 595 | squeeze you have documented some really helpful info. dwm i rebuilt one of those columns 27 years ago just to get a original 64' c-10 out of the guys garage with all new factory parts he had purchased and it was no fun as i think after the 3rd time i drove the truck down the road, made a call to a buddy asking him to bring his trailer because 1st gear was all i could get. the truck only had 50k on it when it was parked because of linkage problems and the guy wouldn't sell it unless i drove it away. you need to find exploded view or somebody that has done more than i rebuild. good luck. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 32 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 32 | Thanks for the advice. Is there anyone out there with access to an exploded view they could share with me, could there be one in a shop manual? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | aaahh - year does make the difference ... the wavey washer is a spacer, the ears are the shift levers, the housing is a mast jacket - the 60-66 factory assembly manual may have some breakdowns, the shop manual should have some info on adjustment and may have external column pics that could help ... might easier find someone with good info in the 60's forum
