Newbie question on these '47-53 truck gauge clusters... Will the gauges simply slide through holes in the back of the bezel once the 2 screws in the back are removed?

I am afraid to do anything to damage the tubes and the fittings where they pass through the bezel, and I have never worked on one before or even seen these taken apart. I HIGHLY doubt if the assemblies come apart at these brass fittings in any way w/o damaging the gauge.

I have several old ones and I want to keep them as spares if I can get them loose from the old aluminum bezels they are fitted into.

Of course, this also answers the question of how I put a replacement IN the bezel when I put another cluster together.

The safest way is to remove the gauge assembly from the dash. 4 nuts holding it on.

Then remove the individual clusters separately from the housing.

If I remember correctly the fuel and oil pressure gauges have tabs.
The temp gauge can be removed from the housing simply by removing the two screws.
To get the oil gauge out you’ll have to loosen the amp gauge from the back then once the brass square clears the housing it will come out.

Good luck
