For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 2 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 2 | Hey guys, I am new to buying old trucks, this would be my first. Here is one that caught my eye: http://patsautosales.net/view/525409I spoke to the guy and he said that the clutch is on its last leg but otherwise the truck runs great. Based off what you can see in the link above and the pictures provided, what would be a great offer on this truck? An agreeable $$ amount. Thanks in advance. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 164 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 164 | I would not give more than $3500-4000 since it has a bad clutch. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 127 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 127 | a new clutch is not that big of a deal. truck looks good,I don't think that price is too bad.I know what it cost to restore one.I would offer $7000.00 | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | For that price should have replaced the clutch. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | It has a '54 to '62 motor in it, which takes away restoration points, but is a better motor if you want to drive the truck much.
Its hard to price a truck through pictures but I would hesitate to pay much for a 3/4-ton or 1-ton because they aren't as desirable and you should be able to pick one up for not a lot of money relative to what a 1/2-ton in the same condition will get.

Get it upon a lift and check it close. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 698 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 698 | That's about the going rate for a good truck here in the Sunshine State - not one with a bad clutch. I'll bet once the clutch is replaced and you get to put it through it's paces, you'll find a lot more wrong with it. How long ago did it get that shinny new paint? Did they grind out all the rust or just bondo & paint over it?
