The big box auto parts franchises normally do not stock slow moving parts for vintage vehicles in their warehouse. A lot of the hard to get parts that your local auto parts says they can get for you comes from our vintage vendors like Chevs of the 40’s or JC. I talked with the people at JC this summer and wholesale of vintage parts is a large part of their business. I run into this just this past summer with AD fuel tanks and water pumps. In the long run I’ve found it easier to simply order it from our vintage vendors rather than try to save a few penny’s at FLAPS. Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

Car Quest said they stopped making the rebuild kits. Just looked on Chevy's of the 40's and they sell a kit for $40. The pump is $58. Think I'll pay the difference and get the pump.

I think I am going to rebuild mine. | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 1 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 1 | I used a rebuild kit from Jim Carter. It was easy to rebuild and has worked great. | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,554 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,554 | I purchased a brand new carter glass top fuel pump from oreilly a while back. The parts guy said carter was manufacturing them brand new again.I believe it was about five more dollars than the rebuild kit cost.
