I'm wondering does anyone know if chevy ever made a 1/2 ton stake bed truck? Know of any information, specifications, details on how to make one?

Thanks!

... I do NOT know if they did or not but it would not surprise me if a truck/chassis was purchased and then a stake bed built for one.... but prsonally I doubt that the factory would put a flat bed on a 1/2.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

I have found old literature that Ford's F1 had one, but not any literature on Chevy 3100 having one.

As Alvin said, there was not 1/2 stake bed from the factory. The cab and chassis model came with rear fenders and full running board.

You have a short running board. does it have a finished-looking rounded rear-edge or does it look like it was just cut off (and maybe have a flat piece of metal capping off the rear edge)?

Here is my '51 short 1/2 ton flatbed. I don't know if it is factory or not but it sure looks good.

Here is my '52 short 1/2 ton with a utility box. This I know is aftermarket.

BruceO,

I have a 49 F1 with a factory flat bed. Can you direct me to the literature you mentioned? (forgive me this small indescretion, my other 3 trucks are chevys)

While I am no authority, I believe Chevy flatbeds of that era have rounded corners. Don't think yours does - but it does look good! smile

Nice looking truck! A friend of mine had a stock 1952 3/4 ton flatbed he restored to show quality. He bought a second original Chevy flat bed frame assembly because it had the fluted sides he liked. He had it powder coated black but wound up selling the truck before he installed the second frame. I have photos of all the frame assembly pieces laid out on the driveway. I will send you a private message with my email in case you would like to see the assembly photos for reference, for your project. In fact, I think he still has the frame and would probably sell it now that he doesn't need it. I could put you in contact with him, if you are interested. Feel free to request the photos either way.
