If you're a machinist or have access to the equipment, it would be worth the try. By the way,the "Stovebolt" series on WebRodder has been removed by Doc. Supposedly a book is in the works now.

I believe I can develop an adapter plate for my Van Norman boring bar which will allow me to do that on stovebolt engines, if there's enough interest in it to make the setup work worthwhile. It would involve shipping me your bare block with the rear main cap (including shims) installed after you've done a trial fit of the crankshaft. Basically, this guy is advocating installing a full-circle lip seal like the new design small block V-8's use. Once the holding jig is built and the procedure is perfected, the labor charge would be about $100.00 Anybody interested? Jerry
