Pickin up my 63 K20 next week. Shes dirty rusty and old, no motor trans or T/C. I have a replacement cab and bed (long bed step side) the front clip is barely held together, the front panel that normally is not touching the frame has been notched and its hanging on the frame. So im assuming I need the replace the front clip (the donor truck was totalled head on into a wall, so i wasnt able to grab that, just what was salvagable) Its an original 4x4, not a conversion, complete with stock divorced t/c set up. What im dealing with is, i have no t/c. I have the trans from the donor truck, i didnt do enough investigating, cant remember if its a SM465 or a NV4500, but I don'tmind too much haha. Question is, I'm gona have the motor in this bad boy pretty quick, and i wont be installing my t/c for atleast a few months, but i would like to have the truck running and driving, so im not constantly driving 30 miles each way to pick up my flatbed from the yard to bring her somewhere for us to work on her, and I was hoping to use her and my trailer out front so i can drive my daily dually. I would like to put the truck on the street with a drive shaft to the rear, leave the rest for later. a bit amatuerish, but hey, its gotta be done.
Next, Im looking for information on relocating my fuel tank to the front of the bed. This truck will be used offroad, and i would wrather not have a fuel tankhanging down the bottom of the truck, and im too tall to keep the behind the seat tank. looking for a clean setup, maybe a diamond plate boxhousing my tank? Anyone eversee or hear of anything like this?
I was also curious if I could use a married trans/transfer case set up in here, but i think id wrather keep it divorced, part of what makes her a 63
