When I pulled the engine the other day, I left the tranny on because I couldn't get it disconnected.. I just removed pretty much everything from the engine (carb, maniford, starter, etc) and all I really have left to remove now is the tranny... How the crap does the transmission unbolt from the engine? I see 2 bolts at the top of the transmission connecting to the engine, but it looks like its 1 solid piece.. but I know it's not! Frustrating! How many bolts connect the tranny to the engine.. where are they????? smile

The other 2 bolst are inside the bellhousing. You'll have to remove the sheetmetal cover from the bottom of the bellhousing to get to them. The remaining 4 bolts that attach the bellhousing to the block are accessed the same way, after the clutch and flywheel are removed.

This is a pain.. the way I have it, its hard to get to the bottom of the bellhousing to get to the bolts for the tranny... I still have it hanging from the hoist with a chain wrapped around it. I need to get all of this removed and get that engine put over onto my engine stand...

Well, the chain is wrapped around it, but it's sitting on a wood pallet thing....

Roll it on its side and proceed. Remove the distributor and fuel pump first if you lay it on that side.
