The VIN on the title was always the engine #, well the engine is not original and I cant get the numbers to match anything I've found on the web.
HAA 9433470. Any ideas about the engine pedigree?

Is that (HAA9433470) the number on the title or the number on the engine? Are you trying to put the title in your name but can't find the VIN on the car? More detailed info would help us help you. Assuming you are trying to transfer the title to your name and can't find the # on the truck, if it's on the title and doesn't match the engine number you'll need to contact your state DMV or equivalent to see how they resolve that particular issue. You're not the first to face that issue and won't be the last.

Do you have a 1950 Panel Truck or a Panel Wagon (sedan delivery)?

Tiny's advice should be heeded. Also, as Tiny suggested, post a little more information.

1. Do you have an old title?
2. Do you have an old registration?
3. Do you have a vehicle identification plate on the driver's door-jamb?

Also note that the engine number is not necessarily the number that was originally used on a title/registration (but, the engine number seems to have been the most commonly used number/code).

It was an issue that I was able to side step when I registered it. I kept the original Title serial # which happened to be the non-existent engine #.

I had sort of figured out that this was a car engine. From all outward appearances there is no difference????

I've only had it for a couple months and it runs like new. The old timer that had it for the last 45 years mentioned the engine had been replaced early on, he did'nt say anything about a car engine though.

Just keep in mind that if you ever sell it out of state where an inspection will likely be required, the new owner will have a devil of a time getting the title transferred when the number on the title is not on the vehicle.
