I woulg like to knoe because I have to reconstruct all of the sheet metal around the windshield area (don't know how yet) and I need to buy some sheet metal. 18 ga is around .048
19 ga is hard to find many suppliers simply dont carry it.
If you go to a metal supply store ask to mic the sheet as tolerances can be all over the place. You might run into a piece of 18 ga that is pretty close to 19 ga in thickness.
Very rarely will you find sheet metal on the high end of the tolerance, I would try to buy 19 but 18 if not found...Eric | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 150 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 150 | Thanks. I still have to find a supplier in my area. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 406 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 406 | If you have an industrial sheet metal shop or fab shop in your area, they probably sell small pieces of 18 gage sheet that you could use for these parts you need to make.
By the way, 19 gage steel thickness is 1 millimeter. American suppliers typically use 18 or 20 gage. 19 gage is probably more common in parts coming from other countries that are on the metric standard.
