does anyone know the last year that chevy made three speed transmissons? i havent seen or heard of any stock truck past 74 that had a three on a tree. is 74 the correct year? any one know a good source that would have a list of all the different types chevy made through out the years?
from the 50's to the late 70's for both car and truck? i really need to find out which kind i have........year, out of what, and whether syncronized or unsync. thanks

I seem to recall a close friend of mine purchasing a new C 10 short fleet in 1981 with a Saginaw 3 on the tree, behind the 250 cid straight six. I'm pretty sure they went the way of the buggy whip, along with the 250, not long after that. '82 or '83 I think, with the intro of the 4.3L V-6

By the way. If you have four bolts on your side cover, It's a Muncie with un synced 1st gear. If you have seven bolts, it's a fully synchronized Saginaw. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but, speaking trucks only, I believe Muncie's were used pretty exclusivly prior to 1966, and behind six cyl engs til 68. Saginaws only on eight cyl engs from 67 and behind all 6's and 8's after 1968. Hope this helps

Not sure about the US but I remember back in 1980 or 81 Chevrolet in Canada was selling 4 door Malibu's with 3 speed manual transmissions. The car were very basic and plain.

The story the dealership had was the Chev had a large order from some country in the Middle East for a bunch of these cars and the deal fell through, but they had already built the cars.

It was a 3 speed manual with a floor shifter.

Not sure about trucks, but my dad had a 76 Nova w/3 on tree & 305. I could be wrong, but I think the late 70's early 80's Malibu's/El Caminos had 3 speeds.
