The rust is fairly severe, and underneath the chrome. Should I attempt to strip/grind smooth and straighten before I send them to the plating shop? I haven't priced repops, maybe cheaper to buy instead of repair? The prices they quote include the cost of removing any of the original chrome that's left. Anything you do might make it worse for them and more expensive for you.
