Is there a procedure for removing the chrome plating and rust from bumpers? The rust is fairly severe, and underneath the chrome. Should I attempt to strip/grind smooth and straighten before I send them to the plating shop? I haven't priced repops, maybe cheaper to buy instead of repair? I doubt if repops will be as heavy as the originals.

Just let the chrome shop do it.

Ditto, they have a procedure for removing old chrome. The prices they quote include the cost of removing any of the original chrome that's left. Anything you do might make it worse for them and more expensive for you.

Since you are in Yakima you probably know this, Canada is the place to go for chrome work. MUCH cheaper in Vancouver B.C. last time I heard.
