2 more days until I retrieve my '51 2 ton (w/ dump). I'm thinking it's a 6400, but the VIN on the title isn't being recognized by the VIN decoder site. The length is certainly making me question where I'm going to store this monster! I believe its got the original 235 in it, but I'll know more once I can degrease some of the bits.

Good to know there's a large support network out there for the a beginner. Once this one is restored it'll look awful nice next to my '55 Caddy. thumbs_up

I'll post pictures as soon as I can find my camera...! And the ole girl is actually coming from Burlington/Mt. Vernon.

The PO did some odd things to make it more like a modern rig. Clearance lights on top of the cab and a side mounted gas tank. Never connected the fuel gauge sensor either, so I thought I was golden until I sputtered out of gas 20 miles from home on the interstate. PO also placed the battery on the exposed side as well, just to the rear of the cab. For what reason, I have no idea. The battery box in the cab is in great condition...

Finally, there's a PTO dump bed on it and the setup is a little jury rigged. The PTO handle that engages the dump is where the ignition should be. I could really use a picture of someone's dash with all the components in clear view. The manual only gives angled illustrations.

Check the serial number from the driver's door opening against the title and the vin decoder. The truck is probably titled off the motor serial which was common back then.

What part of Seattle? I spent the morning in downtown and get over there from Bainbridge about once a week these days.

Measured the wheelbase today on the 2 ton. It's about 179 inches, so I guess that makes it a model 6500. Overall length and width is about 22ft and 8ft, respectively.

Pictures can be seen here.

Gave her a couple gallons of gas and set my Jeep to boost the battery, but she just turns over and won't start? Last weekend I drove 40 miles on the freeway and the engine did just fine...

BTW, I live right next to Northwest Hospital (not the Aurora side) in the Northgate neighborhood.
