The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Throttle linkage

I've got a '51 3100 with a 235 out of a '57. Somehow part of the throttle linkage has been lost. I've got the bell crank that goes on the block(pretty worn) and I've got a curved peice that goes from the bellcrank to the carb, a small hole drilled in one end. Does anyone have the correct throttle linkage that they would be willing to part with or have a pix in their album showing the complete linkage. I'd really appreciate help on this one. Plus, could anyony show pictures of their firewall. This would help too. Thanks

I may be wrong, but I think the "curved piece" you are referring to actually connects to the accelerator peddle with a pin that passes through the hole you see and is held in place by a cotter pin. The other end should have a 90 degree bend in it that goes through the top hole of the bellcrank and is held by a washer and cotter pin. However, because you have a later engine than the cab/chassis, other modifications of the linkage may be required to make it work smoothly.

Thanks Pete and Drew; I could not find a pix of the linkage but I may not have searched them all.. Drew, I don't think the curved one goes to the pedel, as a matter of fact , I don't really know where it goes. The reason I am baffled is that one guy took the engine out to rebuild and I put it back in. I think he lost a part or two. Hopefully someone will have the linkage and is willing to part with it.

I did not not look through all 250 or so photos in Pete's interesting albums, but maybe he is referring to this photo ?

If that is not the best photo, maybe Pete will post a link to the specific photo?

This is a picture of elmers linkage.The bent curved one looks like it is the bell crank to throttle linkage . I'm a little confused on the shape of it,can you guys step in and help elmer out.

The bellcrank looks something like the trans shifter linkage that pivots on the 6 cyl bellhousing. The other rod could be a bent up shift rod from some unknown application.

The rod going from the bell-crank to the carb on our truck doesn't have near that much bend in it. Not to say that it wouldn't work, but it looks pretty odd. I think ours goes up through the gap between the manifold and the block. That one looks like it's curved enough to go out around the outside of the manifold. Seems like it would bind that way, but who knows.

Well, I am back to square one again. There was a linkage on Ebay advertised as a '56. I bought it and got it today, not the right one. Does anyone know where I could look for one????? Thanks

here's a hint of what you need from a recent thread, not real clear but from a 57 .... put a post in the parts wanted, and while any year 235 linkage should work at the engine, the piece from that bellcrank to the pedal might need to be for your year
