This has probably been asked before, but what axle assemblies will work to replace the one in a 41 3/4 ton truck? I would like to have a higher gear ratio than 4.55:1.

A 1955-62 1/2 ton center section will fit right in using the original axle housing and uses the same axle splines also. Most 55-62s will have a 3.9 ratio. There is a new 3.38 gear set available. You will need to adapt the drive line to the 1/2 ton U-joint.

I think I would have the rear yoke on the drive shaft changed if I were doing the conversion. Changing the center section is quite easy. Patrick's carries the 3.38 gears. www.patricksantiquecars.com 520-836-1117
