! am going to paint in 10 days and still have a major uncertainty on the color "break" where the fender runs up to the hood near the radiator. I know that most restored photos should this piece{which is rivited to the fender} as body color{cab}.It does not make since that this rivited piece would not be fender color instead of body color in the production phase? I do have a 1962 photo of this vehicle which shows that the fender, all the way up to the radiator mounting is fender color not cab? Should I believe current ideas on this subject or go with historical photos, versus listening to Chevy/Gmc judges telling me it is wrong to have it black? As an addition the sheet metal piece which fits between the two grills[gmc not chevy, was cab color not fender color. Long winded posting but important to me because I have an original body/frame/ engine/radiator/ ect. vehicle with the original title from the original owner issued in 1941 for 0ne dollar with no transfer until I bought it this year, a choice truck. All comments appreciated

Hey Doug
Are you talking about the fender extensions on top of the fenders that go on each side of the upper grill?
I have a GMC also its a 45 with a painted grill. Ive had the same question for sometime about the extensions. ive come to the conclusion, that the they are supposed to be cab color.
My truck was brewster Green with Black fenders & running boards.
If you peel back the weatherstrip on the extensions there is shiny green paint underneath. Also the peice between the 2 grilles, "I call a mustash " because it looks like one, should also be cabcolor, on both sides.

Thanks for the comments, I tend to agree with you but the fact that the fender 'EXTENSIONS" are riveted to the main fender throws me off. I really like your term "mustash' it is exactely what it looks like. I will probably go with cab color on the extensions because it does blend with the "mustash' which looks good. I could not tell the color when I pulled the hood weather / melt/stripping. As a seperate question is the rear window outer Al. oval which locks in the gasket cab color, I think it is? Thanks for your comments
