the '40-'46 chev 1/2 ton trucks look identical aside from the obvious front end assembly differences... even with those differences things like shape and relationships to the cowl and running boards look identical.

has anyone ever installed a 40 front end assembly to a 41-46 chevy cab/frame?

thanks.

There is an obvious difference in the length. The 41-46 cabs are about 2 inches longer than the 39-40 cabs. That makes the running boards about 2 inches longer as well. It might be possible, it might not... probably depends a lot on skill level.

i did a little homework after reading your message and it appears that in '41 chevrolet repositioned the seat and added a bit of leg room.

ive got a '40 truck front clip at a different location and like the simplicity of it. if the swap worked w/o much fuss id have done it... when i get it to my garage ill do a test fit to see where its off at and at some point post my findings in this thread.

not looking to hack up anything or spend a whole lot of time making it work. im sure there is someone with a '40 that needs front sheet metal.

thanks for the replies.

It looks like its just longer at the fire wall.Im using a 39 cab on my 46 frame. The only differance i noticed was the small step out on the lower cowl were the 39 fenders but up against.Im hoping this all works out as my 46 cab was crushed by a big oak in a storm a few years ago and the 39 cab was all i could find to replace it.

i just got the '40 front clip to my place, will try it out soon. at a glance the fenders look shorter than '41/'46 but i took no measurements.
