Mine has a disk that screws to the cab with rubber under it. I have seen pictures of others like that but would like to know why the difference?

You can remove the screws and cutout a new rubber or leather gasket to fit the filler tube and hole properly. I saw a very nice restoration of a '40 this weekend with all original stuff save for the rubber grommet, and that was a major eyesore! | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 374 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 374 | The 'disk' is factory for sure. The rubber underneath is factory as well. Leather was used under the disk during WWII due to rubber shortages far as I know. | | |
