For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 71 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 71 | Hi there,
I rebuilt my 3 speed transmission and re-installed it on my '54 Chevy truck. The linkages are hooked up correctly, but I am having a hard time aligning the control shaft levers so they properly shift. The gearshift lever moves freely, not engaging the control levers to shift the gears.
I have the owners manual and I am reviewing it (keep in mind this is my first automotive project so it is a long, slow read). I am looking for any insight that some of the experts can share with me. I am narrowing it down to a few issues:
1. possibly missing control shaft spring.
2. incorrect position of the shifter gates
3. incorrect position of the inner levers.
I can try and take some photos and post through a link when I get home, but I thought I would send this out to see if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks,
Carlos | | |
