I have a set of Jim Carter's reproduction hubcaps and they compare very favorably with the originals that were on my truck. I can't comment on the 1941 script paint color, because I don't know. Stainless would have been the most likely material choice for the era, but again i don't know.
The shape and script of the repro's are identical in every way the originals. Mine have the script detailed in black and I have not changed it. The only other time I can recall seeing factory photos of hubcap script in other colors than black, are for the blackout models where the color is light (perhaps white, grey, silver, or gold)against the black (seemingly) of the hubcap. As factory phots of the era are in black and white we can only speculate as to their true colors. I'll take a shot and say that the hubcaps for the blackout trucks were black with white script.
This is a long way around to say that I think Carter's caps are definitely as close as you're going to get to an authentic cap unless your originals are in outstanding condition or you find a perfect set of NOS caps sitting in a warehouse in the Ural mountains-which never got put on those lend-lease pickups the Russians are still grateful for.:)
(BTW, funny story. I did buy some valvetrain parts for my Chevy 235 which were repurchased from Communist China. These parts were left over from WWII. I got them from a USA outfit that had made a big purchase from the ChiComs)
