on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 181 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 181 | Hello - I just purchased the 3 necessary hyd. brake hoses for the 58 Spartan 2.5 Ton I'm fixing up - the original hoses were (all 3) Wagner F4000 (from vintage catalog I have). The ones I picked up are Dorman H4000, which are supposed to cross. The originals have at least a 3/16 ID, while the Dormans have 1/8 ID....otherwise, the Dormans are correct (length/fittings, etc.). Will this difference affect performance? Thanks for any feedback that you may have....

I would not think this would affect performance at all. The only effect this could possibly have would be to slow the application of the brakes slightly by reducing how quickly the brake fluid can move through the hose. In a laboratory setting one may be able to measure a difference in the flow rate of the different hoses but in a real life application I can't see it would matter.

Although I'd look and ask a little more and try to find ones more like original before giving up and using the smaller diameter ones.
