Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 12 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 12 | Greetings all, I finally got around to hooking up my choke and throttle cables today. I guess I expected the throttle to work like the choke. I figured I would pull it out and it would stay till I pushed it back in. When I pulled it out the big ol spring that connects to the throttle linkage from the pedal pulled it right back in. Any ideas on what I need to do? You might end up putting a spring on that has a little bit less pull. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | The original has built in resistance the new ones don't when I put the new one on I checked it. There are cable sets that you can pull out and turn and it will stay' they're built for industry But they don't look the same ,I thought about putting a little bend on the shaft of the new one so it would hold when You pulled it out but then I tryed to think when I would use it and I never would so it's there now for looks .
The return spring on the throttle is an important safty feature.
McMaster Carr part #6161K11 is a locking type

There was a time, however, when we would set the throttle in the hay field and load hay while occasionally climbing on the running board and turning the wheel to keep it out of the creek. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | Sorry to have those days gone ,when I was younger I worked on My uncles dairy farm in Wis. every summer ,drive the tractor and the old truck it was a hard life but I loved it.
