I ended up ordering some custom wheels from Stockton Wheel in Stockton, California for my 1948 two ton. They realized there is a need for these wheels and seem to be quite knowledgeable on what will work with the clearances. I am getting 22.5 one piece wheels to replace my original 20 X 6 3 piece wheels. Just couldn't find a reliable place to get some used ones. In the long run, I think it is the better idea, just going to cost more. If you are interested in some wheels for old Chevy's you might give them a call. 1-800-395-9433. I talked to Frank.

I'm waiting too, and don't take it the wrong way, but I think we'll all be waiting longer than you think.

If it's not to late I suggest you get some pictures before committing or sending any money. even if they don't have a complete one on hand they should have parts or a similar wheel to give you the idea of what they are going to build.
It's a lot of money to spend and not know what the results will be.

I'll ask for a picture, but he did say they would look like my wheel. Delivery time is 6 to 8 weeks. No problem for me. It's been on stands a lot longer than that.

If it's important to you that they look like your wheel, or at least somewhat original then you may want to send them a picture of yours and get confirmation in writing that it'll look pretty close. Although even if they aren't what you are expecting probably won't be anything to do about it.

Just be cautious, I wish you luck.
I visited the shop and they really are nice guys, an interesting place. I also had a pair of wheels made and I'll never deal with Stockton again.

Unfortunately I had a nightmare experience with Stockton wheel.

I converted to Disc brakes on My 50 3100. My Old wheels wouldn’t fit after upgrade.
Placed my order with Stockton wheel. Talked to the old guy there I think his name is frank or fred. Told him I installed the P.O.L. kit on front and original drum in rear.

I Explained to him exactly what I had. He said He Knew exactly what I needed. They build them all day he tells me. They custom Backspace them to clear the Brake kit.
I Place the order for 5 wheels/Tire package/Powder coat, he recommended.
They immediately charged My credit card the full price.

I called them after the 8 weeks and they haven’t even started on my wheels. Call back 2 weeks later. He tells me they Just shipped.

When the wheels arrived They didn’t fit.

They hit the calipers. So I called them and told them they shipped me the wrong wheels. They said they get back to me and never did. I called back a few days later and their way of correcting the order was to mail me two ¼ spacers. I argued with them that they were supposed to be custom made to clear the Brake kit. That’s the only reason I placed the order with them.

Well Even with the spacers the wheels still hit the caliper. In my view these guys are absolute crooks.

When I finally got a hold of them, they claimed since I didn’t provide them with exact measurements that there was nothing they could do.
I did a google search on them and found a bunch of post with similar experiences, may complaints with consumer affairs.

Like I stated if they get your order right I’m sure your be happy. If they make a mistake they don’t make it right.

I’m sure other will post that they have ordered from them with no problem and nice looking wheels. And I’m sure that the case. They were lucky My wheels are beautiful. Only problem is THEY DON’T FIT

They were off on the backspacing by 1" from what I asked for and no questions about that as it was clearly printed on the order/packing slip. I could have sent them back, but no guarantee I'd ever see them again or my money, I was out of time, they just cleared, so I ran them.
I also asked for a certain size oval hand holes in them to match the fronts, they missed that too, and no reason why they couldn't have made them the correct size.

Yup this is why when dealing with Old junk, you run what there or you replace it with stuff you can test fit before buying . . .

I drove my 53' Stude M275er on down to the truck yard asked if they had any 6lug 22.5's they said sure do, will they fit a 6lug 20 truck ? not sure lest find out they said . . .

they jacked up one the rear axles removed my 11.00-20's and set on 2 empty rims they fit, them they mounted 2 11R22.5's they slide on the axle fine but the side walls hits before the rims touched . . .

they removed the 22.5's reinstalled my 20's, i asked what i owed, they said nothing now we know and now you know . . . they said . . .

i tossed both gentlemen a 20 spot handed the yard owner a 10 spot and went on my marry way, seems cheaper in long run only cost me $50 bucks to find out if wheels fit or wouldn't fit . . .

Well it looks like some guys had horror stories and others didn't. They sent me a picture of what they will look like, and looks like my old rims. I sent them drawings of the old rim for clearance and they said the new ones will clear. I also sent them pictures of the old originals so they have a lot of documentation. They are the only shop that even got back to me and have been really helpful. I tried the used parts guys and got the run around, no email answers, etc. Guys want me to either drive for a day each way to take the tires off to see if the rims are any good, or pay $400 to ship them to see if they are any good. As far as how long it will take, they said 6 to 8 weeks. I have been working on this truck in my spare time, and if it takes a little longer it takes a little longer. I will let everyone know one way or the other how they did.

Since you live in BC, do you have a Les Schwab dealer that services your area? Schwab has a custom wheel wholesale agreement with a company in Pasco, WA, called American Wheel Specialist. I've visited this company, and bought a set of their custom 19.5s. Also nice folks, and I've never heard the stories about them that I have Stockton. Having a Schwab dealer to work with face-to-face might help too. Stu

Hmmm. I can understand American Wheel Specialist (Juan Murillo) not being able to work with you directly since you live in a Schwab service area, but I'd think they'd have called you back to tell you that. Since they are a wholesaler they can only work directly with you if you live outside Schwab's coverage area. I also wonder if you got a lazy Schwab sales guy. My son and his family life in Portland and I've spent time leaning on the counter talking with a guy at the local Schwab about AWS. That dealer was perfectly aware of what AWS could do. Stu

If your already into an order with them I might suggest looking at the receipt real close when you get it.

Make sure the build specs are quoted on the receipt or have them fax/mail you a copy of the build sheet.

Don’t buy tires from them. Get tires local.

They quoted me one brand of tire but mounted a tire made in china and way overcharged.

I would not recommend STOCKTON WHEEL to anyone.

ouch.... you guys are scaring me. I got a work order from them with all the specs. I hate to hear all this bad feed back, but I guess they deserve it. However I did read some posts on one of the other links and the guys recommended them. The reason I went with these guys is that no one else could do it, or they never returned my emails or calls. This was my only option.

I had Stockton Wheel put artillery wheel centers on new rims couple of years agao. Took a while but I'm real happy with the results.

I was just sharing my experience for information.

Call them between the 6-8 weeks, Remind them of your specs. Have them call you before they ship and VERIFY.

Hi, I have a '53 6400 truck with the widow maker rims on it. Do you have plans for your old rims?
Are they widow makers or split rims? What size are they?
I am running 8.25x 20 tires on all 6 wheels.

My old rims are unusable. That's why I am going with new one piece rims. They were not the so called widow makers though. If you are in the market for some split rims, I may have a contact for you. PM me and I will send you the information. Good luck.
