With the rears done it's time to begin rebuilding the front brakes. I'm surprised that the old wheel cylinder has an inlet port that's cast at an angle. (no banjo fitting as the rear) The rubber brake line is threaded into the wheel cylinder - clipped into the frame bracket and the rigid brake ling threaded into at that point.

The new wheel cylinders are flat on the back side. Did I get the wrong parts or not enough parts?

Sounds like my '38. I would say you got the wrong parts. The correct cylinders are NOT cheap. I landed two NOS cylinders on ebay for 1/4th the cost through the vendors but I had to wait a while for them to be listed. They don't show up on ebay every day. I also discovered that those listing them don't always know what they have (listing the RH as a LH and vice versa) so know what you're looking for.

I have found that O'Reilly's can get a lot of these parts and some of them are old stock.

Thanks for the response - I'll treat the original housings gently in case I need to rebuild them. Is the bore size common? (I think 1 3/8")

Did find a kit on eBay with a picture that looks correct.

If you don't mind having hoses made you can use a different cylinder as long as it fits up correctly to your backing plate and shoes. As expensive as "correct" wheel cylinders are it might be quite a bit cheaper that way.

Special hoses are one option. Another option I'm considering is to have banjo fittings machined. I'm a bit suprised I haven't stumbled on these as an available option.
