?'s. Have you tried backing off the brake adjuster (star wheel) Access through hole in front of drum. Turn it upward. Did you have a leaky cylinder?
Shoes can hang up or stick to drum. Park brake lever could be seized too inside holding front shoe in place.
If nothing else works you could grind off the pins that hold the shoes in place. You can see them on the backside of the backing plate at the 3 and 9 oclock positions. They look like a nail head. Napa sells replacements.

Hi, Alan.. I have had the rear to hang and have to knock off the head of the pins to allow the brake shoes to move with the hub. I just run a good chisel in there and hammer away. Now the front comes off with the spindle, so you got to take cap..etc off.

Sometimes there is no hole in the drum to adjust the shoes. If you look closely you can see the outline of it and you have to knock it out with a chisel. Then you can back the adjusters off thru the hole. By it coming out a little ways then stopping, it sounds like the shoes aren't backed off. If it's stuck solid and doesn't budge, you can heat the center of the drum with a torch and break the rust loose. The cast drum will expand at a different rate than the steel axle, causing it to loosen.
