I found a small water leak next to the water pump.On my 235. It is coming out of the round circle indent to the right of the water pump, on the block. I am not sure of the reason for the round indent and I don't know how to repair the leak. I watched the water drip from the area even with the engine turned off.
Any help

Oh boy oh boy....I learned a lot from these guys here on this one!
If you mean on the side of the block, thats a freeze/expansion plug.
If you mean the domed looking device on the front of the block just below the water pump, thats a core plug, not a freeze plug, and its an entirely different animal than a freeze plug.
Chevs of The Forties sells the whole set for around eight bucks.
Only thing different is the core plug goes in concave facing out, and is kept in place by denting the middle with a few good whacks from a socket smacked with a hammer dead center, also use a good sealer with them.
Either core or freeze plugs are easy to change, good luck!

Thanks I believe it is a core plug. Is there a knack for removing the old one? I will check with 40's and order a set.

you can likely get a set from a local auto parts, NAPA should have them - remove by knocking a hole in and lever out with a big screwdriver

Thanks Bill, I am going to try and fix it when it gets cooler here. My garage is about 102 degrees during the day, so I will work at it in the night or early morning. Again thank you, I was unable to find any information, so far on the web about this problem, or how to repair.
