I would like to rebuild my hand brake assembly - does anyone remake all the original assembly? Thanks for any help.

no, particularly as there is no such item as a "hand brake assembly" - only a couple pieces necessary for the hand/parking brake system are available - or needed actually, unless your whole system went missing

Hi Bill,

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I have everything for my hand brake floor lever, but I would like to restore it to factory specs, the teeth below don't seem to grab that well anymore? are there any adjustments I can do? Thanks very much for your time.

no adjustments, if the teeth or the pawl are worn, you'd need to replace with good used, although it could just be the spring under the trigger [that's available] or just needs some fiddling and lube so it all moves smoother, might be that points around the prop shaft unit need cleaning and adjusting

Thank you very much Bill! The teeth when I just looked are pretty pointy and look like it has been barely used. When I physically push back the handle spring it seems to lock in correctly, then if I push the trigger lever shaft to the middle of the handle shaftover towards the passanger side it locks in tightly. I have it rigged up to work for now, but I thought there might be a guideline to go by or a worn out part to by? Trying to restore this hansome truck. Thanks for your help!

thumbs_up the shop manual is a good thing to have, but simple things that the mechanics were expected to be able to figure out won't be covered - once you see how it's supposed to work it's just a matter of sussing out how to overcome the 50 years of mis-use, might just be a matter of light lubrication or tightening up the pivot pin
