Anybody have anything to say good or bad about new brake drums? Made in China?? They seem to be about $100 each. Does anyone know the measurement for the limit of turning the drums. Mine are a little under 11 1/16".

I think the limit on the 11" drums was .060 which is close to 1/16" or .062". I bought new drums from Jim Carter and they were made in Argentina. Two drums were .005" over and one was .015" over. I gave up trying to get a response from them but a new drum should not be .015" over. The drums look good but they don't have the ridges on the outside. Also they appear to be a one piece cast unit rather than part steel and part cast.

Thanks for your reply, i am still confused about one thing. Is it a .060 cut which results in an increase in diameter of .120, or is it a cut of .030 resulting in an increase of .060. My drums measure about 11.110. Thanks again

It is the .030 cut or a total diameter of .060" over. If you can pass safety with them a little over .060", you shouldn't have a problem.

I found this article helpfull. Drum Brakes.

When God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his workthis is a gift of God. He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart. Ecclesiastes 5:19-20
