I've got the left side all up under it and was going to tighten up the ball joint nuts when I seen that I only have about a 1/2' of clearance between the stop on the spindle and the stop an the lower a-frame . I don't think this truck is going to trun to the left . Thr a-frames are from the 65 and I used the moog ball joints that everyone said I needed. I have no tie-rods nor anyother parts hooked up as of now, But something don't look right. Has my head jumped time or have I forgotten some thing ? Do I need to trim the spindle stop ?

I think when I put the rest of the front-end on I can get a better grip on things. I'll have more questions in a day or so. I've got many pic of the 58 MKIII coupe but am stupid as how to post them. Even have some of the 58 lincoln and the 65 truck together. I can E-mail them to someone else to post . Thanks, George

The Ilder arm off of the 75 is bigger and more like I'd want to use. It bolt right to the center link from the 75. I used all the tie rod ends and p/s box. When I tried to mount the arm to the frame of the 65 the angles are WAY off. Tried to mount the 65 Ilder arm and the angles look about right using the oringal holes. The problem is the 65 and 75 arms have differant size tapers to the studs on them. If I use the 75 arm and have to drill new holes, how will I know where just a quess and what is right IS RIGHT. Is there a adapter to mate the 65 Ilder arm to the 75 center link? The 75 arm is about 3/4 at the top and tapers down to 11/16 (all these # where taken after a 13 hr. day ,in the middle of a six pack , Soo... ) The 65 is 5/8 at the top and 9/16 at the bottom. Any Ideas ? BTW , right now no motor and up on jack stands. Thanks, George Hood

I've got all of the parts gathered up, rebuilt, cleaned and painted from a '79 and I was sitting in the garage the other day puzzling out the exact same thing as George. I can still get to the donor truck to measure if I have to, but what to measure and how? Given the number of people that are doing this upgrade it seems like a very good topic for a tech tip. By the way...I found the PS bracket (one piece in CO and the other piece in NJ).
Thanks. Morris | | |

I too have the doner truck near by and will make a template ,but another opion and specs would sure be a help. Thanks ,George Hood Morris, Nice looking 63. Make sure your son keeps is eyes on the road and not the young girls. About 12 yrs ago when my son frist got his D.L. it cost me the new chrome bumper and grill on this very same 65. Good Luck,George

George, He already cost me a new front bumper on the '96 F-350...the truck died and he had an equally knowledgable friend tow him home...by wrapping a tow strap around the middle of the bumper!

If we can get the numbers where I can read them I'll do an electronic version of the drawing in Visio and post it here.

I work as a road mechanic for a power company ,being out there with no shop to help me I sometimes get the print of a bucket truck or digger fax to the house. Most of the time they are useless. Call me. I have a fax machine at home, but it operates on the same number as my regular telephone line so we'll have to coordinate a little bit when you are ready to send the fax. If I can't read the fax you can send me a snail mail copy. If I can read the fax I'll put together a visio drawing of the information, publish it as a PDF document and email it back to you guys. If we want to take it one step further we could write this up since George and I are both about to undertake the same work and maybe Peg would put it on the site for other folks as well.
