For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 34 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 34 | Has anyone used a 1947-1953 frame on a 1954 Chevy 3100 1/2 ton truck? My '54s original frame is pretty rusty and was wondering if the swap was pretty straight forward. My biggest question would be the bed, since the 1947-1953 has shorter sides and required wood blocks. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 | The 54 frame "kickup" over the rear axle is flat compared to the 47 frame. The 47 rear cab mount is different. Nothing that can't be easly fixed. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 34 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 34 | I assume the bed sides would just sit on the frame and you would need to raise the bed floor to compensate for the hump?
As far as the cab mount, how different is it? Different location, or just different type?

We are asked this fairly often and so we took a couple pictures and wrote a short article about the possibilities. Go to http://www.mar-k.com/installation_hints.html and scroll down to the bed installation section and click on the "Installing a 54 bed on a 47-53 frame". This may answer some of your questions.
