Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!
| | THANKS!
For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 18 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 18 | I should be able to drive my bread truck again this weekend! I drilled and tapped the bottom two tranny mount holes in the bellhousing so I could install a pair of threadserts. They have been locktited in place and I've test fitted the trans to the bellhousing and all looks good. I picked up my clutch disc and I'll be mocking up my drive shaft tomorrow or sunday. The starter was also pretty gummed up and would usually take a few cranks to get the solenoid to do it's thing. I took some time and disassembled and cleaned it up.
I've also tracked down a known good 261 in an early 60's tilt cab chevy truck and plan on getting that back to the shop in the next month so I can get it all cleaned up and resealed. I'm also considering a small amount of boost on this guy too if all works out well.. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 18 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 18 | the trans is in and functional. I drove it for the first time in months as of today. I've read that the t5's don't like large rear tires so I've been taking it easy on her so far. Up next is acquiring my 261!! | | |
